SigCloud is a sophisticated and robust data platform that works as the central data collection and analysis node within an IoT/edge wireless sensor and actuator network. It comprises back-end and front-end server software modules, relational databases, integrated content management system (CMS), data analysis layers, and web/mobile user interfaces.
The back-end software modules collect data from the connected sensor network nodes using standard protocols, and store in databases, where further analysis can be performed on the network-wide data with real-time data flow and processing. The consequent actuation data is sent to the network nodes through the back-end modules as well. The front-end software and the CMS modules present the data in the most meaningful format for the end user depending on the user profiles and application scenarios.
With such a flexible and modular structure, SigCloud serves as a platform that provides extensive agility in customisation to the needs of a given use case in most IoT/edge applications, and can be deployed at a local or remote server, or in a cloud server framework. SigCloud was utilised in a number of our solutions, and was tested successfully with sensor networks deployed in the field. The system has a technology readiness level (TRL) of 7.
